The Orioles challenged 19-year-old Dylan Bundy on Monday by allowing him to pitch five innings for the first time in his young pro career.
Let’s just say he responded.
Facing the Philadelphia Phillies’ affiliate Lakewood BlueClaws in Salisbury, Bundy allowed two hits and one unearned run in five innings Monday. He struck out three and hit a batter. The lone run scored on a passed ball.
The Orioles’ 2011 first rounder (fourth overall) has started seven games for the Shorebirds. He has thrown 25 innings, giving up two runs – both unearned – on four hits and two walks. He has struck out 36 batters.
On Monday he faced 18 batters – three over the minimum.
