Did Koji Uehara almost sign with Orioles?

The Baltimore Sun

Japanese pitcher Koji Uehara is in the traveling squad that arrived for Wednesday night's game between the Orioles and Boston Red Sox at Ed Smith Stadium, and he was happy to see some of his old friends.

He said through his interpreter that he thought there was a chance that he might be in an Orioles uniform this spring, but he's happy to be with the Red Sox this season and thinks that they have "a good mix of guys."

"I thought that there would be a possibility [of playing in Baltimore]," he said, "but I didn't especially put a lot of weight on each team or one particular team. I thought that every team had a chance."

Uehara still makes his American home in Baltimore and said that his family will continue to live there no matter where he plays in the future.
