The Orioles took a 4-0 lead in the sixth inning Friday with back-to-back solo home runs by Chris Davis and Matt Wieters.
Davis’ homer against John Danks was his major league-leading 48th of the season. Davis is now one homer shy of tying Frank Robinson for second most in club history.
Wieters’ homer was his 21st of the season and his 20th as a catcher this year. He’s the only player in Orioles history to register three consecutive seasons with 20 or more homers while playing catcher.
The last Oriole to have three 20-plus homer seasons as a catcher was Chris Hoiles, who achieved the feat in 1992, 1993 and 1996.
The Orioles have hit back-to-back homers four times this season.
They now have six homers in their past two games and lead the majors with 191 this season.
