Davey Johnson says Mike Morse will fit in well at Camden Yards with Orioles

With the way their designated hitters have fared this season -- Danny Valencia on Friday notwithstanding -- the Orioles are obviously excited to add Michael Morse to their lineup.

Apparently the Washington Nationals are also pumped up about "Beast Mode" coming back to Mid-Atlantic.

This from Amanda Comak of The Washington Times:

[Nationals] manager Davey Johnson said they were discussing the Orioles waiver claim of Morse during Thursday night’s game and the dugout buzzed with the possibility of the slugger returning to the D.C. area.

“There was some interest in the dugout,” Johnson acknowledged.

Johnson liked the deal for the Orioles, given how intimately well he knows the player and the home stadium.

“He’s a big impact on a lineup,” Johnson said. “Huge. In Camden Yards? I shudder to think. That ballpark’s just made for him. He’s that right-center hitter and that’s the jet stream. He’s a good fit there.”

Johnson, the former Orioles second baseman and manager, also spoke about Morse's "relaxed approach," which would seem to fit in with the O's clubhouse.

Morse spent four years in Washington. He had his best season with the Nats in 2011, when he batted .303 with 31 home runs and 95 RBIs.
