Orioles right fielder Nick Markakis out of starting lineup for third straight game

The Baltimore Sun

Orioles right fielder Nick Markakis will be out of the starting lineup for the third straight game when the club faces the Boston Red Sox at Camden Yards tonight.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Markakis was still sore after he was hit by a pitch in the back of his right shoulder in the seventh inning of Tuesday’s game by Toronto Blue Jays reliever Aaron Loup. Markakis finished that game, but hasn’t played since.

Marakakis didn’t play in the finale against the Blue Jays or in Friday’s series opener against the Red Sox. Showalter said Markakis was available off the bench, but he didn’t see action in the Orioles’ 5-3 loss in 10 innings.
