The Orioles on Monday claimed right-handed pitcher Armando Gabino off waivers from the Minnesota Twins, leaving them with 34 players on their 40-man roster. Gabino, 26, went 6-4 with three saves in a 38 games (seven starts) for Triple-A Rochester in 2009, and had a 17.18 ERA in two appearances for the Twins. He made his major league debut against the Orioles on Aug. 25, allowing four earned runs, five hits and three walks in 2 2/3 innings while getting a no-decision in the Twins' 7-6 victory. ... Third baseman Melvin Mora was classified as a Type B free agent, but that's essentially a moot point because the Orioles have no interest in offering him arbitration, a necessary step for getting draft-pick compensation for the player. Relievers Danys Baez and Mark Hendrickson, who are free agents after playing for the Orioles last season, didn't get either Type A or Type B classification. -- Jeff Zrebiec

Cakes22, what are you doing on this thread showing some mature perspective and strategic thinking? Obviously this kid is raw, but we get him for nothing and maybe someone see's something that can be developed. Good jos by the Orioles to be playing any angle available.
