August 15, 2008: Above and beyond World shot put champion Reese Hoffa fouls on his 6th and final put, finishing a disappointing 7th. Photographically, and from a team standpoint, the shot put was a disappointing event overall. The two Americans who celebrate the most, Hoffa and Adam Nelson, both did poorly. USA's Christian Cantwell finished 2nd, but the best he could do after winning his silver medal was shrug his shoulders. If you have been reading this photo journal, you know I hate it when winning athletes don't go berserk in victory. Poland's Tomasz Majewski won the gold medal and did the first of the 2 million flag-draped laps around the stadium you'll see over the next week or so.
