Waterside congrats

August 17, 2008: New love I officially have a new favorite sport to shoot, rowing. Rowing? Yes, rowing. This is why I love it. I was sent to shoot the sport to get a photograph of Wilmette's Jamie Schroeder, who was competing in the men's quadruple sculls final. His race was scheduled for 4:50pm, but I got there for the start of the gold medal races at 3:30pm. I barely sat down when The Netherland's Marit Van Eupen and Kirsten Van Der Kolk won gold in the lightweight women's double sculls final. As they headed to shore two exuberant fans stripped down to their underwear, jumped in the water and swam out to hug the champions.
