August 20, 2008: Dude, BMX rawks! When I first heard that The Olympics were adding BMX cycling to their list of sports, I was excited. Back in 2006, at the Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy, I had the joy of shooting Snowboard Cross. I kinda figured that BMX would be like snowboard cross. Crazy! However, when I arrived at the BMX track this morning, I quickly realized that the first two and a half hours of competition would be seeding phase time trials. That meant each of the 50 or so bikers would ride the track all by themselves not once but twice. The problem with this situation was that the Tribune was waiting for this photo on deadline for Wednesday's paper. (I love shooting something on Wednesday that is published in Wednesday's newspaper, but I digress.) After shooting the first three Americans -- Mike Day, Kyle Bennett and Donny Robinson, I transmitted a handful of pretty boring images back to Chicago.
