August 7, 2008: Olympic fever After spending most of my first week either shooting at Olympic venues or at Beijing tourist attractions, I decided to head out Thursday morning and walk the neighborhoods around the Olympic Stadium to see if I could tell if the residents were getting excited about the Summer Olympics which are set to start on Friday. It only took me about 5 minutes to come across some Olympic spirit. Along Anli Lu Road, just west of the media village where I am staying, I found two tricycles celebrating the upcoming Games. One was piloted by an excited Chinese man wearing silver 2008 sunglasses. His tricycle was ringed by numerous flags of the participating Olympic countries. The other tricycle had a small golden replica of The Bird's Nest, the wondrous Olympic Stadium.
