Phelps and Spitz

This combo of photos shows U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps (left) standing on the podium during the men's 200m butterfly swimming medal ceremony at the National Aquatics Center during the Beijing Olympic Games, and legendary U.S. swimmer Mark Spitz (right) on the podium after winning the gold medal in the 100m butterfly on August 31, 1972 at the Munich Olympic Games. Michael Phelps became the greatest Olympian in history on August 13, 2008, capturing the 10th gold medal of his Games career with a world record-setting triumph in the men's 200m butterfly, surpassing Spitz's nine swimming golds.
