Phelps adds three more wins

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Michael Phelps won three more races and set two more meet records as the Santa Clara Grand Prix ended last night.

Phelps, from Rodgers Forge, won the 200 medley and set meet records in the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle, giving him six victories and five meet records during the four-day meet.

"Not bad," Phelps said. "Having these three events back-to-back-to-back like that, it's good for my training. To be able to have three races like this, where you can get up and race some of the best swimmers in the world, that definitely drives me."

He previously won the 200 butterfly, 200 back and 400 free, setting meet records in the 200 fly and 400 free. He also tied the meet record in the 200 back.

Last night, he took the 200 medley in 1 minute, 59.71 seconds, which was nearly five seconds off his world-record mark.

Phelps also was victorious in the 100 back, winning in 54.45 and breaking his meet record of 54.80.
