Michael Phelps visited Riverview Elementary School today, where he is helping to motivate students through a program called "Go For the Gold With Michael."

Students were gathered in the school's TV studio, where his visit was being taped and broadcast to all the classrooms. At this moment, Phelps, sitting to the right of principal Mick Small, was watching a tape with students of one of Phelp's s record-breaking swimming events. Riverview School has developed a reading incentive program around the theme of Michael's "quest for the gold," in the upcoming 2004 Olympics in Athens. This visit was timed to encourage students to do well in next week's Maryland State Assessment (MSA) tests.
