Petoskey graduate Patrick Leiderbach set a Detroit Mercy indoor track record in the mile, finishing in 4 minutes, 9.64 seconds at the Alex Wilson Invitational at Notre Dame.
The former mark was 4:10.3. Liederbach, a senior, placed 19th in the race.
— Dennis Kan, a 2010 Petoskey gradudate, collected five hits in 11 at-bats, with seven runs batted in, and scored five runs as Grace (Ind.) College swept a four-game series from Hiwasse (Tenn.) College.
Among Kan’s five hits in the series was a grand slam. Grace is 4-6.
— Junior Dustin Dibble scored five points and grabbed one rebound in Missouri-Kansas City’s 79-55 loss to Indiana-Purdue-Indianapolis in a Summit League men’s basketball tournament quarterfinal game.
Dibble, a Petoskey grad, played in 30 games starting four. He scored 81 points, grabbed 31 rebounds and dished out 20 assists on the season. All three totals were career highs.
The Kangaroos finished 16-14. Their 16 wins were the third most in school history.
— Michigan’s Joey Garber shot 76-79-79 — 234 to tie for 71st in a field of 102 at the Fresno State Lexus Golf Classic.
Michigan finished tied with Kansas State for 10th in the 16-team field with a 1,135 team score. San Diego State shot 1,083 to win the 54-hole event.
Garber was fourth among Wolverines. Senior Lion Kim shot 71-70-77 — 218 to finish tied for 12th to lead Michigan.
— Petoskey graduate Kristi Ellis, a freshman at the Texas Lutheran, set an indoor school record in the 600-yard dash in a meet at Missouri Southern. She finished in 1 minute, 35.66 seconds.
Ellis also placed seventh in the long jump at 16 feet, 10 inches in a meet at the University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio. She also placed sixth in the high jump.
— Petoskey grad Chad Ellis set a Texas Lutheran weightlifting record with a lift of 285 pounds in the power clean. Ellis a senior and was a member of the Texas Lutheran football team last fall.
— Charlevoix grad Chris Waha pitched 1 1-3 innings for New Mexico Highlands University in a 15-4 loss to Wayland Baptist (Texas) College during a tournament hosted by University of Texas-Permian Basin.
Waha struckout one while allowing three runs on three hits. The Cowboys finished the tournament 2-1 with wins over Colorado School of Mines, and Texas-Permian Basin.
