The proposed contract would take up the Clippers' midlevel exception unless they can make a sign-and-trade deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers before July 10.

Hawes averaged 13.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game last season with the Philadelphia 76ersand Cavaliers. He played the final 27 games with the Cavaliers and made 25 starts for Cleveland. He started all 53 games he played for Philadelphia last season.
