Connor Kelly set career highs in assists (four) and points (eight) to fuel the No. 2 Maryland men’s lacrosse team to a decisive 13-7 victory over visiting Marist on Tuesday at Maryland Stadium.
Kelly tied his career high of six points set March 26, 2016, against North Carolina with a goal just 55 seconds into the third quarter. He then established a career best when he fed freshman attackman James Avanzato for his first college goal 92 seconds later.
Sophomore attackman Jared Bernhardt set career single-game highs in goals (five), assists (two) and points (seven), and redshirt freshman attackman Logan Wisnauskas, a Syracuse transfer, added two goals and two assists. The Terps, who improved to 2-0, will play on the road for the first time this season Saturday at High Point (0-2).
Senior attackman Gannon Morrison paced the Red Foxes (0-3) with two goals and one assist. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Brian Corrigan acquitted himself well, making a game-best 17 saves.
