With its decisive Atlantic Coast Conference championship win over Syracuse, Maryland's women's lacrosse team strengthened its position at No. 1 in this week's Inside Lacrosse Brine Division I Women's Media Top 20.
The Terps, who improved to 19-1 with Sunday's 13-7 title-game victory over the No. 2 Orange, received every vote for No. 1 this week. Maryland, which has beaten Syracuse twice, completed its season with the best record in Division I and should be the No. 1 seed for the NCAA Tournament when the selections are announced Sunday at 9 p.m.
Maryland's only loss this season was to defending national champ North Carolina, which is now 14-4 and ranked No. 4 behind No. 3 Florida. Boston College rounds out the Top 5.
