Salisbury men's lacrosse assistant coach Tim O’Branski has joined the Georgetown coaching staff for the 2013 season, Hoyas coach Kevin Warne announced.
O'Branski, a Binghamton, N.Y. native, comes to the Hilltop as an assistant coach after three seasons on Salisbury's staff, helping the Sea Gulls to a record of 65-3, including three Division III national championship appearances and consecutive national championships.
"Tim fits the description of what we want to add to this coaching staff," said Warne, who took the Hoyas post over the summer after serving as back-to-back national runner-up Maryland's offensive coordinator the past two seasons. "Being a part of four national championship teams at Salisbury, he understands the qualities it takes to perform at a top level. Tim will be heavily involved in our faceoff planning and running the substitution box, as well as behind-the-scenes aspects, like scouting and breaking down film, that are very important to our program. He's a hard worker, he's just getting his start at the Division I level and he has a bright future ahead of him. Our guys will benefit greatly from his experiences."
At Georgetown, O’Branski will be working with the faceoff unit and offensive personnel. His responsibilities also include the editing and analysis of game film. On game day, O’Branski will run the substitution box. At Salisbury, O’Branski transitioned into coaching directly after a successful playing career with the Sea Gulls, helping to continue the program’s dominance.
As an assistant coach, O’Branski handled the defensive midfield positional group as well as coordinating the scout team and assisting with the offense. At Salisbury, he served as an adviser and tutor for players while also creating individual and team strength and conditioning programs. In addition to his role as recruiting coordinator, he scouted other opponents and acquired, edited and analyzed game film to develop scouting reports to help Salisbury prepare for upcoming opponents.
On the field, after transferring from St. Vincent, O’Branski was a three-year letter-winner at Salisbury, being named a team captain during his senior season of 2009. He was a part of the Sea Gulls' undefeated 2007 and 2008 national champion squads. He also helped the team to three consecutive Capital Athletic Conference tournament championships from 2007 to 2009.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
