Johns Hopkins has picked up oral commitments from a pair of Baltimore-area high school sophomores -- Loyola midfielder Cole Williams and Calvert Hall midfielder-faceoff specialist Bradd Atkinson.
The 6-3, 185-pound Williams scored five goals and 11 assists on varsity with the Dons and also plays for Looney's club team. Summer all-star games he made include Baltimore Summer Kickoff, FLG Summer Shootout, Freestate Top 22 and the Under Armour Uncommitted 2016 game. Other events he attended over the summer include Jake Reed Blue Chip Camp and the U15 National Championship with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes national team. He also considered Loyola, Ohio State, Duke, Maryland and Hofstra.
Last season, Atkinson won 63 percent of faceoffs and recorded 28 ground balls, six goals and seven assists. He played this summer for the Baltimore Lacrosse Club Crabs 2016 team. He also considered Maryland, Yale, Hofstra and Villanova.
Junior oral commitment
Faceoff specialist-midfielder Thomas Kidd of Magruder High in Rockville has committed to Massachusetts-Lowell, which will begin Division I play in 2015. The 5-10, 160-pound senior had 21 goals and 12 assists last spring as well as being named captain and earning All-Division and All-County honors. He attended UPLAX, MVP and Summer Sizzle.
Kidd also considered Robert Morris, Mount St. Mary's, High Point, Tampa, Connecticut College and Widener.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
