The Denver Outlaws set a Major League Lacrosse record with their 13th win of the season and moved within one victory of a perfect regular season, beating the host New York Lizards, 13-10, on Sunday.
Jeremy Sieverts (McDonogh, Maryland) finished with three goals and an assist for the Outlaws (13-0), who outscored the Lizards 4-1 in the fourth quarter to break open a 9-9 tie. Terry Kimener (UMBC) had a goal and three assists for Denver, and Drew Snider (Maryland) chipped in a goal.
Eric Law, who starred at Denver University after transferring from Salisbury, scored his 20th goal of the season, becoming the 10th rookie in league history to hit the milestone. He’s joined in that category by the Lizards’ Rob Pannell, who scored two goals to increase his total to 22 in just nine games.
In the Outlaws goal, Jesse Schwartzman (Pikesville, Johns Hopkins) made 14 saves.
The game was tied at six at the half.
The Outlaws, who have clinched the top seed in this month's playoffs, will go for perfection at 3 p.m. Saturday in a road game against the second-place Hamilton Nationals.
