Sophomore long-stick midfielder-defenseman Jack Welding of Southlake Carroll High in Southlake, Texas, has committed orally to Maryland.
The 6-foot, 175-pound left-hander started all 13 games as a freshman, scooping up 47 ground balls and tallying three assists. This summer, he was an All-Star at T99, UNC Team Camp and Top 205, playing with Iron Horse and Stickstar; he will be attend Maverik Showtime in 2014. He also considered Denver, Marquette and High Point.
Junior oral commitments
Boys' Latin defenseman Matt Sacks has committed to Furman. The 6-2, 180-pound prospect was a member of the Baltimore team that won a title at the Under Armour Underclass Games. Sacks was also in the Freestate Top 22, attending Jake Reed's Blue Chip and National Scholastic Club Lacrosse Association, where he was named an All-Star. He also considered Delaware and Lehigh.
Midfielder Brian Prigmore of King's Way Christian School in Hazel Dell South, Wash., has switched his commitment from Navy to Brown. He plays for the West Coast Starz and locally for the Seattle Starz, attending NSCLA, Terrapin Classic and Adrenaline Challenge.
St. Mary's attackman Timmy Hardy has committed to Villanova. The lefty has been a key contributor for the Saints' attack since his freshman year, putting up more than 50 points over the past two seasons. As a member of the Annapolis Hawks, he played in the Maryland Freestate Games, Crab City Challenge, Gait Cup and Terrapin Classic. Hardy also considered High Point, Fairfield and UMBC.
Midfielder Jackson Mumford of Stephen Decatur High in Berlin has committed to Towson. The 6-2, 175-pound lefty has started since his freshman year and is a three-sport varsity athlete. Playing with the Annapolis Hawks, Mumford attended Jake Reed's Blue Chip, Crab Feast, Terrapin Classic and Gait Cup. He also considered Navy and Jacksonville.
Jamie Munro's son commits as freshman
Attackman Colin Munro of Mountain Vista High in Highlands Ranch, Colo., has committed to North Carolina. A member of 3D (his father, ESPNU analyst and former University of Denver coach Jamie, is the CEO), the lefty attended Denver Shootout, Vail, FLG in 3D, Jake Reed's Nike Blue Chip as well as Greene Turtle Team Invitational and Philly Showcase this fall. The 5-11, 155-pound Munro plays box for the St. Catharine's Athletics midget team. He also considered Virginia, Notre Dame, High Point, Johns Hopkins, Syracuse and Penn State.
