Recruiting notes: Pair of rising sophomores orally commit to Terps

As recruiting season picks up, the Maryland men's lacrosse has landed oral commitments from a pair of rising sophomores.

Midfielder Jared Chiachetti of St. Augustine Prep in Richland, N.J., has committed to the Terps, joined by attackman-midfielder Jack Wilson of Radnor (Pa.) High. Wilson's commitment was first reported by the Delaware County Daily Times.

A highly touted recruit out of the NXT club program, Wilson also scored 20 goals for the Raiders as a freshman. He considered Ohio State and Penn State as well.

At 6 feet, 170 pounds, Chiachetti plays club for SouthShore, earning All-Star recognition at Baltimore Summer Kickoff and Philly Summer Invite, also attending UPLax, Crab Feast, Jake Reed's Nike Blue Chip and the Under Armour Uncommitted Games. He started as a freshman for coach J.C. Valore's Hermits. Chiachetti also considered Penn State, Harvard and Ohio State.

Other rising sophomore commitment

Midfielder Terry Lindsay of Georgetown Prep in North Bethesda has committed to Duke.

The 6-1, 175-pound recruit played on the Little Hoyas varsity as a freshman and also plays soccer in the offseason. Lindsay won every tournament (Legacy, Crab Feast, King of the Hill) that Greene Turtle South entered, making the All-Star Game at King of the Hill and Baltimore Summer Kickoff. He also played at UPLax, Free State Games and the National High School Showcase, which Georgetown Prep won. Lindsay considered Virginia, Princeton and Notre Dame as well.

2 with Baltimore ties join Cornell

Cornell announced that 6-1, 190-pound goalie Christian Knight (Boys’ Latin) and 5-11, 170-pound attackman James Tautkus (St. Paul’s) will join the team beginning next season.

Knight was a three-year letter-winner, serving as team captain during and earning team Most Valuable Player honors his senior season.

A native of York, Pa., Tautkus lettered a total of three times in lacrosse for St. Paul’s and the Taft School in Watertown, Conn. He served as team captain during his senior season at Taft.
