Recruiting notes: Loyola sophomore Roesner commits to admissions process at Penn

Loyola sophomore lacrosse player Alex Roesner has committed to the admissions process at Penn, continuing a growing trend of commitments by underclassmen.

The 5-foot-11, 165-pound attackman played varsity as a freshman for the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association runner-up. He is a member of Looney's Lacrosse Club and a two-time Most Valuable Player of the championship game in the Dick's Tournament of Champions. Roesner strongly also considered Michigan, Ohio State, Princeton, Villanova and Fairfield.

According to Inside Lacrosse, more than 100 players in the Class of 2015 nationally have made oral commitments to colleges — in addition to five freshmen confirmed to have made such commitments.

Other oral commitments

  • Landon junior attackman Zac Buller has committed to Jacksonville. Buller plays club for Virginia Lacrosse Club and has attended Jake Reed's Nike Blue Chip the past two summers. A member of Landon's Interstate Athletic Conference championship team, he also plays football and runs track and field for the Bears. Buller also considered Bryant, High Point, Notre Dame, Penn, St. Joseph's and Villanova.
  • DeMatha junior attackman Steven Partlow also has committed to Jacksonville. The 5-11, 160-pound left-hander led his teams in goals and points as a sophomore, scoring a hat trick against St. Mary's Ryken to advance to the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship.
