After improving to 5-0 including an upset of Loyola last week, Johns Hopkins made the biggest leap in the Inside Lacrosse Brine Division I Women's Media Top 20, rising from 20 to No. 14 in the new poll released Monday.
Maryland remained No. 2 while the other state teams lined up just out of the Top 10 with No. 12 Loyola, No. 13 Navy, No. 14 Johns Hopkins and No. 15 Towson.
The Blue Jays won two games last week, but edging then-No. 7 Loyola, 6-5, was the biggest. Holding on through a 33-minute scoring drought as the Greyhounds erased what had been a 5-1 Hopkins lead, the Blue Jays got the game-winner from Jenna Reifler, who grabbed her own rebound and punched it in with 5:50 to play.

After that, the Blue Jays avenged a surprising loss last season to American with a 17-5 victory. Taylor D'Amore socred five goals and had two assists in the first half to build a 13-3 Blue Jays lead.
The Blue Jays haven't opened a season with five wins since 2006 when they went 8-0 to start.
Maryland was the only local team to hold its spot with defending national champion North Carolina remaining atop the poll at 6-0.
Last week, the Terps beat Hofstra and then got six goals from Beth Glaros, five as the Terps built a 9-2 lead, in the 19-10 win over No. 6 Duke.
Loyola fell from No. 7 to No. 12 after losing to Johns Hopkins and to unranked James Madison, 7-8. A season-opening win over Virginia likely kept the Greyhounds (2-2) from dropping further.
With other teams moving up and down, No. 13 Navy dropped a spot despite opening 5-0 with one win last week, 9-8 at Villanova.
No. 15 Towson also dropped one place after falling to No. 3 Syracuse 12-7 in a game that was tied at 7. The Tigers, who play Johns Hopkins Wednesday at Homewood Field, are 2-1.
