Two are running backs who won the Heisman as college football's best player in the 1980s. Two more top-flight rushers came out of college in the 1970s. The only quarterback was a star in both college and the NFL in the 1960s.

The eight Heisman winners who went on to have Hall of Fame NFL careers: Doak Walker, Paul Hornung, Roger Staubach, O.J. Simpson, Tony Dorsett, Earl Campbell, Marcus Allen and Barry Sanders.
Current pro players honored with the Heisman are Robert Griffin III, Cam Newton, Mark Ingram, Sam Bradford, Reggie Bush (who was stripped of the award) and Carson Palmer. There's also Tim Tebow, Troy Smith and Matt Leinart, quarterbacks who have played within the last two seasons but currently aren't on a roster.
