With the Lakers missing the playoffs, the Clippers have taken over the headlines -- although not for the best of reasons.
With Clippers owner Donald Sterling embroiled in scandal for alleged racial statements, Lakers All-Star guard Kobe Bryant took a moment to urge his followers on Twitter to recognize and support the Buss family.
The Lakers are coming off their worst season in franchise history, winning just 27 games -- but arguably preferable to the Clippers' conflagration.
The Lakers lost owner Jerry Buss in February 2013. The future of the team primarily lies in the hands of Jim and Jeanie Buss. Jim is in charge of the Lakers' basketball operations while Jeanie is the team's governor and president.
Bryant also expressed his feelings on Sterling and his future with the Clippers.
After missing almost the entire season with Achilles and knee injuries, Bryant has recently begun a six-month workout regimen in preparation for the 2014-15 NBA season.
