A person familiar with the negotiations says rookie running back Daniel Thomas has signed a four-year contract with the Miami Dolphins.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Friday because the Dolphins hadn't announced the signing.
Thomas missed the first practice of training camp but is expected to be on the field Saturday.
The former Kansas State star was taken in the second round of the draft and is expected to share playing time with newly acquired veteran Reggie Bush. The Dolphins' top rushers last year, Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams, are free agents.
Thomas led the Big 12 Conference in rushing the past two years.
