Evan Marshall, Jason King, Nick Martini and James Allen were the Wildcats taken in the first-year player draft. That is more draft picks than the last 13 years combined for Kansas State.
Marshall, a junior right-handed pitcher, was taken with the 124th overall choice by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Senior third-baseman King was selected at 137 overall by the Detroit Tigers. Center fielder Martini fell into the hands of the St. Louis Cardinals at #230 overall while right-handed pitcher Allen was selected by the Cincinnati Reds at #235.
The first Jayhawks player taken was Colton Murray. The Philadelphia Phillies picked him up with the 421st selection. Thomas Walz was the next Kansas player to be picked. The Oakland Athletics took him with the 466th overall choice.
