As Chris Heim continues to race and win on the short tracks of Western Kansas, he dreams of something more.

"My goal is to get as far as I possibly can you know," Heim said. "Everybody's goal has got to be NASCAR I'd think. But it's hard to get there. The right people at the right time gotta see you and know you."

Heim will have a chance for the right people to get to see him and know him in August. The 20-year-old Hoxie native is one of nine national finalist for the Peak Stock Car Dream Challenge.

Being selected for the competition means he will head to Charlotte for a three day competition, and be judged and mentored by NASCAR drivers Clint Bowyer, Michael Waltrip, Brian Vickers, Martin Truex, Jr and Danica Patrick. The winner of the three day event will become Michael Waltrip Racing's next development driver.

Heim has more than 70 victories in Karts and Sport Modifieds. He is also a two time national Kart champion. He currently leads the points in the Sport Mods division at the WaKeeney and Sherman County Speedways.
