CHARLOTTE, North Carolina—
NASCAR star Jimmie Johnson
and wife Chandra have a new baby daughter.
Chandra Johnson gave birth at 2:02 a.m. Friday at a Charlotte, N.C., hospital. The baby girl weighs 5 pounds, 10 ounces and was 19 inches long at birth.
Mother and baby and are doing fine and are expected to remain in the hospital overnight.
Johnson will miss qualifying Friday at Richmond International Raceway. Regan Smith
will serve as interim driver, with Johnson returning to drive the No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports
Chevrolet in Saturday night's Sprint Cup Series event.
