Collin Klein the quarterback was Collin Klein the football coach, at least for one day.
The former Heisman Trophy candidate and one of the finest players in K-State history started Collin Klein's Passing Academy and is taking across Kansas to teach the next generation of quarterbacks.
"We started kicking the tires around with the idea and things started clicking," Klein said about his passing camp. "It's been awesome."
Coach Klein is a job title he'd like to keep off his resume for the time being, as he pursues his dreams of playing in the NFL. He works out regularly with former Denver Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer.
"We've looked and dissected the footwork and worked on the load and (throwing) motion to smooth it out," Klein said. "I've made progress and got better over the past couple of years, so just putting in that cumulative work has been very good."
He broke through with a mini camp invitation from the Houston Texans but things didn't work out initially. The door appears open for future consideration.
"They've called me a handful of times throughout the summer and my agent has been talking with them, so I don't think that door is totally closed."
