The San Francisco 49ers have signed former Northwest high school star Chris Harper, per ESPN.

Harper, who played his college ball at Kansas State, was drafted in the forth round by the Seattle Seahawks, but released as the the Hawks made cuts over the weekend to get to the league required 53 man roster.

Seattle had signed Harper to its practice squad, but San Francisco offered him a spot on the active roster.

Harper averaged nearly 15 yards a catch in 2012 for the Big 12 Champion Wildcats and caught four touchdowns.
