The Aztecs take on clash with the Colorado State Rams in the semifinals of the 13th annual event at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
The top seed in this year's tournament the Aztecs, winners of the event a total of four times and the two-time defending champs, were almost sent packing by eighth-seeded Boise State on Thursday afternoon, but some hard play down the stretch and a little bit of luck was just what SDSU needed to record the 65-62 win. With the victory the Aztecs moved to 17-8 in the event all-time.
The teams split their two meetings during the regular season, each winning on their home floor as CSU posted a 77-60 triumph at Moby Arena in late January and the Aztecs returned the favor with a 74-66 triumph at Viejas Arena the following month. As a result, the all-time series now stands at 36-32 in favor of Rams.
The winner of this battle moves on to the title game on Saturday where they will face the survivor of the UNLV/New Mexico contest, the victor claiming the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
