Seattle Storm Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Brian Agler announced today the signing of Belinda Snell and Erin Phillips.
“Both Belinda and Erin are veteran WNBA players that have been starters on their respective former teams,” said Agler. “Belinda has a wealth of international experience and is regarded as one of the elite three-point shooters in Euroleague play. She is also a great competitor, and we expect her to give us quality depth on the perimeter.
“Erin, who is currently playing great basketball in Poland, is coming into her own. She is a very good shooter as well as an aggressive offensive player and will provide solid support for both Sue Bird and Tanisha Wright. We are excited to work with both players and expect them to have great opportunities to contribute.”
Snell, a 5-11 forward, signed with the Phoenix Mercury as a free agent in 2005 and averaged 3.4 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 10.3 minutes per game during her three seasons with the team. Snell signed with the San Antonio Silver Stars in 2009 and averaged a WNBA career-best 6.2 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists in 18.4 minutes over 30 games. Snell played in two games for the Silver Stars in 2010 and is currently playing for Perfumerias Avenida of Spain in the Euroleague.
Phillips, selected by the Connecticut Sun in the second round (21st overall pick) in the 2005 WNBA Draft, made her WNBA debut the following year. Phillips competed in three seasons for the Sun, averaging 6.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Currently, the 5-8 guard is averaging 15.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 35 minutes per game during Euroleague action for Poland’s Wisla Can-Pak.
