Felix Hernandez, Chone Figgins, Michael Saunders, Miguel Olivo, Jason Vargas, Brandon League, Brendan Ryan and Mariners legends Jay Buhner, Dan Wilson and Bret Boone are among those scheduled to join Manager Eric Wedge and General Manager Jack Zduriencik at the 13th Annual Seattle Mariners FanFest January 29-30 at Safeco Field. FanFest hours each day are from 11am-4pm. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-14, children 5 and younger are free. Parking is available at the Safeco Field garage for $5 in advance and $10 at the door. Tickets for FanFest are available at Mariners Team Stores (downtown Seattle, Bellevue Square, Southcenter Mall and Alderwood Mall), online at www.mariners.com/fanfest, Ticketmaster Ticket Centers or at the Safeco Field Box Office on event days.
New this year are the following activities:
In addition to current and former Mariners players, fan will have a chance to meet future Mariners Dustin Ackley, Nick Franklin, Kyle Seager and Michael Piñeda. They will be in the Visitors Clubhouse signing autographs both days, along with displays of the Seattle Mariners minor league system. They will also participate in the Dugout Dialog fan Q&A sessions. In 2010, the Mariners minor league teams ranked second in all of baseball with an overall winning percentage of .544. Only the St. Louis Cardinals system ranked higher at .549.
Ackley was the Mariners 1st Round Draft pick, 2nd overall, in the 2009 June draft. In 2010, he split the season between West Tennessee (AA) and Tacoma Rainiers (AAA) where he combined to bat .267 with 33 doubles, 8 triples, 7 home runs and 51 RBI. Ackley was MVP of the Arizona Fall League where he won the Fall League batting title with a .424 average.
Shortstop Nick Franklin was also taken in the 1st Round of the 2009 draft (27 overall). He spent the 2010 season with the Midwest League West Division Champion Clinton LumberKings, where he was ranked the 6th best prospect in all of the Midwest League.
Right handed pitcher Michael Piñeda was the Mariners Minor League Pitcher of the Year last year. In 2010, he split time between West Tennessee (AA) and the Tacoma Rainiers, where he was 8-1, 2.22 in 13 starts (77 innings) for West Tenn and 3-3 with a 4.76 ERA in 12 starts (62 1/3 innings) for the Rainiers. Combined, he struck out 154 in 139.3 innings.
Second baseman Kyle Seager spent the 2010 season at the Mariners California League High Desert team, where he led the league with a .345 batting average and 192 hits, and was named to the CAL All-Stars team.
During FanFest Weekend, Mariners account representatives will be available from 11am-2pm Friday and 11am-4pm Saturday and Sunday to help with 2011 season ticket packages and locations, including the “4 for 2” offer of full season tickets in select Field, Terrace Club Outfield and View Reserved locations. As part of "Select-a-Seat," fans will be able to "try-out" seat locations for all ticket packages, including Full Season, Weekend, Business and 16-Game plans and in all areas of the ballpark including the Key Bank Diamond Club, All-Star Club and Wells Fargo Terrace Club.
