Big Brown will see a familiar face

Recapturetheglory enters Preakness off Derby; Racecar Rhapsody's in

The Preakness added two new starters yesterday when connections for Recapturetheglory and Racecar Rhapsody told Pimlico racing officials they are headed for Baltimore.

Recapturetheglory, owned by Ronnie Lamarque and Louis Roussel, will be the only Kentucky Derby competitor to take on Derby winner Big Brown in the May 17 race. It is only the third time in the past 59 years a Derby winner has gotten off so lightly.

"We know that we belong," Lamarque said. "Big Brown is a bear, but we're not going to [the Preakness] to run second."

Twenty years ago, the Preakness was Lamarque and Roussel's race as they won with Risen Star. It was the high point of their careers, and the two named Recapturetheglory, fifth in the Derby, in memory of their season with Risen Star.

Racecar Rhapsody finished fourth in his previous effort, the Grade II Lexington Stakes at Keeneland.

"The horse is training well," trainer Ken McPeek said. "We kind of feel like we might be running for second money with Big Brown being as impressive as he's been, but you never know."

Big Brown went to the Churchill Downs track yesterday for the first time since winning the Kentucky Derby by 4 3/4 lengths. He jogged leisurely around the track.

"Big Brown came out of his race well," trainer Rick Dutrow said. "[Today] he gallops, and we'll really know for sure as to where we stand. For now, we can tell everyone we're as excited as ever about this horse and how well he is doing."

Dutrow reconfirmed Big Brown is scheduled to ship to Pimlico on Wednesday.

Kentucky Bear became the first Preakness horse to arrive when he was unloaded into the Pimlico Stakes barn yesterday evening.

In New York, Todd Pletcher said he will work undefeated Harlem Rocker, winner of the Grade III Withers, this weekend and then make a decision
