Derby champ gets in-stalled

After arriving with a police escort in a white trailer at Pimlico Race Course yesterday, Big Brown walked calmly from his trailer to the end stall reserved for the Kentucky Derby winner just after 8 p.m.

The flight carrying Big Brown from Louisville, Ky., to Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport arrived later than expected, but trainer Rick Dutrow said that was not an issue for his horse.

"He was cool," Dutrow said.

While Big Brown was en route to Baltimore, he drew the No. 7 post in the Preakness draw.

"We got a good post," Dutrow said. "We're not going to cry if we get beat [because of the post]."

Before leaving for Maryland, Big Brown took to the track at Churchill Downs yesterday morning with exercise rider Michelle Nevin up.

"It was just a regular gallop," Dutrow said before accompanying Big Brown on the flight. "He went good."

Big Brown will likely be on the Pimlico track this morning, but Dutrow said he has not decided on a time for the workout. He indicated he would gallop the horse today and tomorrow on the track, and even have Big Brown on the track Saturday morning.
