In the 2014 logo, designed by the Leffler Agency for the 15th straight year, the race is underway as three horses gallop over the word Preakness (in the logo), the Maryland Jockey Club said in a news release.
Stylized horses and jockeys give a sense of movement to the illustration. The colors of the Maryland flag -- red, white, black and gold -- are primarily used in the logo.
"Creating the Preakness logo is an annual tradition for our design department at Leffler Agency and BrandNU Marketing," agency president-owner Bob Leffler said in the release. "We have had the honor of creating this national branding mark ever since 2000. This year's logo is all about the speed and excitement of the race."
