The most visually stunning probable entrant in the upcoming Kentucky Derby could also become the favorite with a good showing at the Blue Grass Stakes this weekend.
Hansen, a nearly all white colt trained by Mike Maker, is the 6-5 favorite in Lexington. He'll be challenged by Howe Great, trained by Maryland-based Graham Motion and owned by Team Valor International. Motion and Team Valor, of course, won last year's Kentucky Derby with Animal Kingdom, and have another possible Derby horse in Went the Day Well.
Another Maryland-based horse, Done Talking, is generating buzz this week after winning the Illinois Derby. Based at Laurel and trained by Hamilton A. Smith, some believe he'll thrive running the 1 1/4 mile Kenutcky Derby. ESPN's James Scully feels differently (there's plenty of good info in this one.)
At the Arkansas Derby, Bob Baffert looks to get Bodemeister and Secret Circle, the two favorites, into the national conversation.
Here's the Daily Racing Forum's Top 20 heading into the weekend.
