Rosecroft: Rosecroft opens its four-month fall Standardbred race meet today with three Maryland Sire Stakes and a 12-race program. First race post for the Sire Stakes is 3:30 p.m. Rosecroft will race each Sunday and Wednesday with first race post time at 4:40 p.m. on Sunday and 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The third-ranked Maryland field hockey team (8-0) rolled to a 5-1 victory at Michigan State (3-5) Saturday in both teams' Big Ten opener. The Terps scored five goals off their 10 penalty corners. Senior tri-captain Linnea Gonzales (Patterson Mill) scored twice to lead the Terps.
Men's college soccer: Freshman William James Herve leveled the match late in regulation before scoring a golden goal in the 95th minute to lift Maryland past Northwestern on Friday night at Martin Stadium. The Terrapins (2-2-2, 1-0-0 Big Ten) dominated possession and held a 20-4 shot advantage for the match, but fell behind after a Camden Buescher stunner in the 61st minute. Herve's goals were his first two as a Terrapin.
Women's college soccer: Freshmen Alyssa Chesney (South Carroll) and Dakota Campbell scored their first college goals in Salisbury's 3-0 win over host Shenandoah.
College field hockey: Seventeenth-ranked Johns Hopkins used a pair of second-half goals to beat host Bryn Mawr, 2-0, on Saturday in both teams' Centennial Conference opener.
College volleyball: Meghan Kelley (Centennial) had 19 kills to lead St. Mary's to two 3-0 wins on the first day of the Seahawk/Blazer Invitational at Hood College. St. Mary's (5-4) swept both Alvernia (1-6) and New Jersey City (2-4).
College wrestling: After spending the last five years directing the Naval Academy Prep School wrestling program, three-time NCAA qualifier and 2011 All-American Mike Letts returns to Annapolis as a member of the Navy coaching staff for fifth-year head coach Joel Sharratt.
College Men's track and field: Navy added Bobby Carter and Joe Delgado as assistant coaches to the track and field staff, while cross country coach Aaron Lanzel will also serve as an assistant for distance events.
