The junior led St. Paul's to a 22-1 record and the Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference and private schools championships.Webster, 6 feet 3, is being heavily recruited by major Division I volleyball programs, and is being considered for the Gatorade National Player of the Year award.

Webster finished the year with 472 kills, an average of 6.38 kills per game. She had the ability to take over a game with her tremendous vertical leap and also contributed 50 blocks and 32 aces.

When the Gators needed a spark, they often got it from Webster. In the IAAM title game, she contributed 25 kills and three blocks in a three-game sweep of Archbishop Spalding, the only team to beat the Gators during the regular season. She added 34 kills, three blocks and 11 digs in a 3-1 win over Good Counsel for the private schools crown.

"I've been coaching for a long time, and Bailey is a once-in-a-lifetime player for me," St. Paul's coach Kelli Wilkinson said. "She's a great student, and the things she's accomplished this year in volleyball are truly amazing."

Broadneck

With his enthusiastic style, he led the Bruins to their fourth state title in his 10 years as their coach.

Since taking over at Broadneck, he has led the Bruins to eight consecutive regional championships. The Bruins won each of their final three matches (the regional final against Leonardtown, the state semifinal against Dulaney, and the state championship game against Montgomery County's Wootton) by 3-2 scores.His career record at Broadneck is 158-36.

Beans, who was also The Sun's All-Metro Coach of the Year in 2000, took up volleyball in the military and got into coaching with various volleyball clubs in the area in the late 1980s.He also served as a volleyball referee.After a stint as an assistant coach at Delaware State University in Dover, he took over the Anne Arundel Community College team and then came to Broadneck as a junior varsity coach. He took over the varsity full-time in 1998. He still coaches both the Broadneck and community college programs, and also won a regional title at the college level this year.

"I believe that you have to make it fun for the girls," Beans said. "We've accomplished so much, and this year's team was very special. I am very fortunate to be in the situation that I'm in and to be blessed with these girls."
