Lacrosse Classic tryouts at Calvert Hall coming up
The inaugural Adidas National Lacrosse Classic will be held July 18-20 at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown. Tryouts for the event will be held at Calvert Hall on May 21 and May 27.
The event is part of a partnership between Adidas Lacrosse and Level 2 Sports and will feature 20 teams consisting of 500 high school lacrosse sophomores, juniors and seniors from around the country.
The top players at the tryouts will be chosen for Mid-Atlantic Regional teams. Eight regions will field teams, with the Mid-Atlantic Region having the most, with four.
Along with Baltimore, 16 other cities will host tryouts. Long Island, N.Y., Washington, Los Angeles and Chicago are some of the cities participating.
The team that wins the 20-team tournament will represent the United States in an international competition against Canada in December for the Brogden Cup.
The event will give exposure to underclassmen for prospective college coaches, and athletes will receive national team apparel from Adidas Lacrosse. For more information, visit www.adidasnationallacrosseclassic.com
