Scoring 15 goals and making three assists this season, the senior forward has shown a knack for being at the right place at the right time for the No. 8 Indians. That was never more evident than Thursday's 3-2 overtime win over No. 2 John Carroll. Mullaney scored all three goals in the Indians' regular-season finale, giving them a 14-4-1 overall record and 8-2 mark in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference.
With the Indians trailing 2-1 in the second half, Mullaney ran on to a through ball sent in by Kat Sipes and scored to send the game into overtime. Four minutes into the extra time, she scored from 6 yards out to hand the Patriots their first league loss.
The win capped a 3-0 week for the Indians and gave them momentum for the IAAM playoffs. Mullaney, who is in her third season on varsity, finished with four goals in the three games - scoring the opening goal in the team's 4-1 win over league foe Catholic earlier in the week.
Mullaney, who has not decided on a college, also was a second-team All-Baltimore City outfielder for the Indians softball team last spring.
Others considered: Kelly Galligan, Spalding, volleyball; Caitlin Powers, Towson, field hockey; Katie Schwarzmann, Century, soccer.
