The junior All-Metro forward scored three goals to lead the No. 5 Cougars to a 5-1 victory over No. 11 Centennial in last week's state Class 3A field hockey semifinal.

For most of this season, Puckett had been a setup player, often making the pass that led to the assist, but in the state semifinals she boosted her season goal total to nine. Puckett also has six assists for the 15-2-1 Cougars.

A three-year starter, the daughter of Fallston coach Alice Puckett played in her third Junior Olympics last summer. She also attended the Wake Forest Futures Development Invitational Camp, the Futures Elite program, which includes 120 players nationwide. A member of the Strikers club team, she helped the Elkton-based program win a gold medal in the Under-19 C Pool at the National Indoor Tournament.

Puckett, who has a 3.2 grade point average, is considering several college programs, including Maryland, Louisville, Towson and William and Mary.

Others considered: Alexa Carney, Towson, volleyball; Lyndsie Ludwig, C. Milton Wright, soccer; Alayna Markwordt, Glenelg, soccer.
