The talented senior quarterback led No. 4 Arundel to a come-from-behind 34-29 victory over North County in the Class 4A East semifinals on Friday.

Elko hit Brandon Johnson-Farrell on a game-winning 55-yard touchdown pass with 25 seconds left. The clutch play came on fourth-and-12 and advanced the Wildcats (11-0) to Friday's 4A East regional final at home against No. 6 Broadneck.

It was Elko's fourth touchdown pass of the game, and it gave him 34 for the season, an Anne Arundel County record and four short of the state record.

Elko completed 22 of 39 out of the Wildcats' no-huddle spread offense for 305 yards and one interception.

Also Arundel's leading rusher, Elko ran for 56 yards and a touchdown in the win over North County, bringing his season rushing totals to 733 yards and nine touchdowns on 143 carries.

Elko, who has a 3.5 grade point average, also plays basketball and baseball but hopes to play football in college.

Others considered: Peter Athens, St. Mary's, football; Dan Griffin, North Harford, football; Danny March, Wilde Lake, football; Jake Pace, River Hill, soccer; Jonathan Perry, Dunbar, football.
