Wrestler of the Year

Bubby Graham Annapolis

Graham concluded a marvelous career by winning a third consecutive state championship and his last 97 matches. Graham pinned North Harford's Tom Stewart in the Class 4A-3A 160-pound final, his third pin in four state tournament bouts.

One of four metro-area wrestlers who were undefeated state champions, Graham finished his senior year at 36-0 after going 32-0 as the 152-pound state champ as a junior. He won the 145-pound state title as a sophomore.

Graham was 121-8 in his four-year varsity career. An outstanding student with a 4.25 grade point average and 2,000 SAT score, Graham will continue his wrestling career at American University.

Coach of the Year

Dan Youngblood Old Mill

In his first season as head coach at his alma mater, Youngblood led the Patriots to their record 18th county title and the Class 4A-3A East regional title despite having only two returning varsity wrestlers and having to deal with the death of rising junior Joey Ackerman last summer.

The team dedicated the season to Ackerman and wore commemorative bracelets and T-shirts all season.

The Patriots were upset by Stephen Decatur in the state dual meet tournament, but they knocked off the Seahawks in the 4A-3A regional and qualified eight wrestlers for the state meet.
