2007 All-Metro Boys Soccer Team

Player of the Year: Chris Agorsor, McDonogh
Agorsor entered the season viewed by many as the top high school soccer player in the nation, and he did not disappoint.

Despite appearing in only 15 of McDonogh's 24 games because of a hip injury,Agorsor still scored 24 goals and had eight assists. He also scored a goal in McDonogh's 3-0 victory over Archbishop Curley in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference championship game.

Set to graduate a year early, he totaled 50 goals and 19 assists in a career that spanned two and a half seasons. Agorsor,who has a 3.9 grade point average, was routinely double-teamed by his opponents' best defenders, but he still managed to be the most potent player on the field. He was also a first-team All-Metro pick last season.

Agorsor decided to finish high school in three years because he has the opportunity to pursue a professional career overseas. He has received professional offers from Newcastle United, Queens Park Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur from England; Ajax and PSV Eindhoven from Holland; Sevilla from Spain; Partizan Belgrade from Serbia; and Juventus from Italy, according to McDonogh coach Steve Nichols.

Agorsor has earned time with both the United States Under-18 and Under-20 National Teams this year. He had an assist for the Under-18 men in a 3-1 loss to Turkey in October.

First Team

Oumar Ballo, Archbishop Curley
Ballo was one of most physical defenders in the state and lost few challenges in the air.Another one of Ballo's strengths is his ability to recover after moving forward. The sophomore routinely shut down the opposing team's most dangerous strikers.

"Oumar loves playing soccer and gives maximum effort every day on the practice field as well,"Curley coach Barry Stitz said. "I'm already getting inquiries from some major colleges about Oumar."

R.J. Bass, Fallston
Bass was a steadying force in the Fallston defense after volunteering to be a defender because the team was short-handed.

The senior routinely shut down the leading scorer for the Cougars' opponents.

"His strength, speed, and athleticism allowed us the opportunity to push forward and take chances. Through his leadership on the field, our defense was able to shut down many very talented opponents," Fallston coach Chris Hoover said.

Andrew Bulls, McDonogh
Bulls, who was also a National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Adidas All-American and an All-South selection, had 18 goals and 24 assists this season. He is also a member of the 2006 club national champion Baltimore Casa Mia Bays. The senior has committed to UMBC on a full scholarship.

"Andrew carried McDonogh on his back during the tough stretch when Chris Agorsor was injured," Eagles coach Steve Nichols said. "Without Bulls, I don't know if we would have survived that, period, without Chris."

Tommy Caso, McDonogh
Caso broke a school record with 20 shutouts in 24 games against what was considered one of the toughest schedules in the country. The senior was a dominant presence inside the penalty area and one of the Eagles' leaders.

"Tommy led the back line with his vocal leadership, always making the big save whenever tested,"McDonogh coach Steve Nichols said.Caso, who had a 0.21 goals-against average, saved two penalty shots in a 4-2 shootout win over Loyola in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference semifinals.

Caso, who carries a 4.3 grade point average, has committed to play soccer at Bucknell next fall.

Steve Ehatt, Loch Raven
Ehatt is a versatile player who helped the Raiders reach the state championship game for the second consecutive year. Loch Raven coach Joe Fiedler moved the senior up to forward in several games to spark the offense. In this year's Class 2A state final against River Hill, Ehatt moved to striker from sweeper and scored in the 48th minute to cut the Hawks' lead to 2-1. He was later taken down in the penalty area to set up the tying goal before the Raiders lost, 3-2, in overtime.

Ehatt is undecided about where he will play next fall.

Bash Kamara, Archbishop Curley
Kamara had 25 goals and eight assists this season. The sophomore recorded a goal or assist in 22 of 26 games for the Friars,who advanced to the MIAAA Conference championship game this season. Kamara's biggest strength was his ability to beat players one-on-one.

"Bash is the type of player that makes things happen.He has great speed and quickness but is also very good with the ball at his feet,"Curley coach Barry Stitz said.

Jake Levin, McDonogh
Levin was considered the "heart and soul" of the McDonogh defense this season. The captain of the MIAAA Conference champions was unbeatable in the air and almost as fine with his tackles, according to Eagles coach Steve Nichols. A four-year starter, his leadership helped McDonogh to a record-setting 20 shutouts in 24 games, and the Eagles allowed only five goals the entire season. Levin scored two goals on set pieces and had two assists.

Levin, who has a 4.0 grade point average, has committed to play soccer at the University of Pennsylvania next fall.

Steve Levine, Loyola
LeVine was one of the Dons' best defenders, but he also helped initiate most of the offensive attacks. "He has the ability to play perfectly weighted balls to the midfielders and forwards, as well as beat defenders on the dribble," Loyola coach Lee Tschantret said.

LeVine finished the year with two goals and 10 assists for the Dons, who lost in the MIAAA Conference semifinals to eventual champion McDonogh.While LeVine has not yet committed to a college, the senior has received offers from numerous Division I schools.

Jake Pace, River Hill
Pace was the Hawks' top playmaker this season even after being moved from striker to a defensive center midfielder. He was the team's leading scorer with nine goals and nine assists. The junior scored the game-winning goal in overtime against Loch Raven in the Class 2A state championship game. Pace, a member of the Olympic Development Program's regional team, also was named first-team All-State and All-South.

"He's the one who controlled the field this year. …He really flourished," River Hill coach Matt Shagogue said.

Dylan Reddersen, Broadneck
Reddersen scored 11 goals and had five assists this season, leading the team in scoring for the third straight season. The senior also was named first-team All-State and first team All- Anne Arundel County. Coach Sean Tettemer called Reddersen a "versatile forward and midfielder throughout his career."

Reddersen helped Broadneck to a 14-2-1 record this season and the regular-season league championship.He is Broadneck's all-time leading scorer.

Michael Rose, Severna Park
Rose, one of the most versatile playmakers in the area, was a four-year varsity player and finished his final season with 16 goals and 12 assists. He led the Falcons to their first county championship since 1998 and first regional title since 2004.He is Severna Park's second all-time leading scorer.

"He is the most complete player I have ever been associated with," Severna Park coach Bob Thomas said. "He knows when he needs to place the team on his shoulders and take over a game.He was the true team captain and leader on and off the field.

He will play soccer at Notre Dame in the fall.
