The senior has now won 23 straight matches — with 20 coming on pins. The ability to put his opponents on their backs earned him the outstanding pinner award at the Get Your Bell Rung Tournament in Virginia this weekend. Galli pinned five straight opponents, all in the first period in his 152-pound class. That performance helped his team to a first-place finish at the meet, and it came on the heels of a mid-week victory over rival Archbishop Spalding wrestler Logan Breitenbach, who is ranked fifth in the state. Galli also took first place at the Southeast Prep Slam in Atlanta, Ga., at the start of the week. The Slam is a national event featuring 44 teams. He had three pins, a major decision and a 7-5 victory in the final. Galli is ranked No. 2 in his weight class in Maryland. Galli carries a 3.45 GPA and will attend Stanford next fall on a wrestling scholarship.
