While earning two victories last week, the junior pitcher struck out 30 batters over 12 innings. He fanned 18 hitters in a seven-inning two-hitter against Pikesville, then followed that with 12 strikeouts in a five-inning, no-hit shutout of Milford Mill. Coach Marc Stevens said the 6-foot-2, 190-pound right-hander pounds the strike zone with his fastball, forcing hitters off the plate. A three-year starter, Sanchez is also showing maturity with patience and by getting ahead in the count. For the season, he's 2-0 with an 0.88 ERA.
