South Carroll wrestling coach Bryan Hamper honored

 South Carroll wrestling coach Bryan Hamper, who guided the Cavaliers to their fourth straight Class 2A-1A state championship, has been named National Wrestling Coaches Association(NWCA) Coach of the Year for Maryland.

The Cavaliers finished with eight state place winners and three champions in piling up the second most points (166) in state tournament history.

A former standout wrestler at South Carroll, Hamper finished his ninth season at the helm and is a two-time All-Metro Coach of the Year, having received the honors in the 2013-14 and 2015-16 seasons.
